NZ DEPENDENCIES - TOKELAU ISLANDS 1949 (23 Aug) RARE FIRST FLIGHT COVER cover addressed to Fiji, bearing 1948 set tied by 'Atafu' cds's, plus 'Apia' & 'Suva' cds's on reverse. A Catalina flying boat of No. 5 squadron of the R.N.Z.A.F. made a survey flight from Lauthala Bay (Fiji) to Tokelau Is, landing at Atafu on 23 August, Fakaofo on 24 August and Nukunono on 26 August. Very scarce.
